Symposium de l'Institut de la Main 2023

Dear colleagues, Dear friends

For the first time in the near 40 years history of the Institut de la Main, we had to interrupt our Symposia for two years, because of the world’s health situation.

It is therefore a particular pleasure for us to introduce our coming Symposium, which will be dedicated to a very topical subject: Nerve transfers in the upper limb.

Nerve transfers have been described more than a century ago, but their use had remained largely confidential until the turn of the century, where they started being used more widely, especially in brachial plexus surgery. Thanks to a better understanding of their mode of action, their indications have been refined, allowing more reliable results. They have been used increasingly, first in the upper limb and then in the lower limb.

Their range of applications has now widely expanded, to include peripheral nerve trauma and their sequalae, tetraplegic upper limb, spasticity, neuromas…

Some indications however remain controversial.

During the Symposium, a large international Faculty of experts will report their experience through lectures, technical videos, contradictory debates and discussions with the audience.

Welcome to Paris!
