« Arthroscopic evaluation of anatomical variations of the oblique popliteal ligament and their association with popliteal cyst formation ».
Le mois dernier, Carminati et Kelberine nous présentaient une classification de l’aspect arthroscopique du ligament poplité oblique et sa corrélation avec la survenue de kystes poplités. Il s’agit d’une étude prospective décrivant quatre types arthroscopiques de ligament poplité oblique — Type 1 intégré dans la capsule(13,5 %), Type 2A faisant saillie dans l'articulation avec un aspect de corde (22,9 %), Type 2B faisant saillie dans l’articulation avec un aspect normal (41,7 %) et Type 3 protubérant dans l'articulation avec une possible communication avec un kyste poplité (21,9 %). Dans leur analyse multivariée : les kystes poplités étaient associés aux formes 2B et 3 (OR = 6,91 ; p = 0,0133).
Ce travail permet de mieux comprendre et analyser le compartiment postéro-médial du genou et éventuellement de traiter les kystes poplités par voie arthroscopique.

Arthroscopic evaluation of anatomical variations of the oblique popliteal ligament and their association with popliteal cyst formation
Last month, Carminati and Kelberine presented a classification of the arthroscopic appearance of the oblique popliteal ligament and its correlation with the occurrence of popliteal cysts. This is a prospective study describing four arthroscopic types of the oblique popliteal ligament — Type 1 integrated into the capsule (13.5%), Type 2A protruding into the joint with a cord-like appearance (22.9%), Type 2B protruding into the joint with a normal appearance (41.7%), and Type 3 bulging into the joint with a possible communication with a popliteal cyst (21.9%). In their multivariate analysis, popliteal cysts were associated with types 2B and 3 (OR = 6.91; p = 0.0133). This work provides a better understanding and analysis of the posteromedial compartment of the knee and may potentially open the door to arthroscopic treatment of popliteal cysts.
