Dear Colleagues, dear Friends, dear Industry Partners,
We are proud to present The Practical Course Orthopedics, designed to provide all orthopedic healthcare professionals with support for refining their daily practice and patient pathways.
Why this new initiative?
Today, education in Orthopedics is primarily composed of technical training. However, we strongly believe that the surgical gesture itself is only part of a patient’s management, and should not be the sole educative component.
Our goal is therefore to put the patient back at the core, because we are not only technicians, we are surgeons! Surgeons who have a strong impact on the lifetime journey of the patients we treat.
Indeed, being a good technician is not enough to be a good surgeon. We are convinced it is essential to have a complete, wider vision of the care and organization needed to optimize our daily practice….
How will this initiative be developed?
The Practical Course Orthopedics will feature digital activities and in-person meetings all year long, with a strong focus on innovation and case-based practice.
The first major annual rendezvous will take place in Toulouse, France - from Thursday 8 to Saturday 10 June 2023. We aim to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and improvement of care by offering an interactive meeting with discussions on:
- Daily practice: based on sharing surgical techniques but also the analysis of cases.
- Live clinical evaluation to exchange on the analysis of a situation and the operative (and nonoperative!) indications.
- Organization: based on sharing the management of patients in our institutions.
- Patient's pathway and augmented experience of care.
- Data driven care: based on sharing the analysis of our practice.
- Routine data collection - How and which data? Too often labelled as research, this is key for every professional involved. We aim to improve experience of care and promote value in health.
- Soft skills: based on sharing tips and tricks that make our lives and those of our patients easier.
- High intensity practices and work-life balance.
